The North Dakota Supreme Court summarized the purpose of the open records law shortly after its enactment. 1 This section was approved by the citizens of North Dakota in 1978. See1979 N.D. Sess. Laws ch. 694. 2 This section was adopted in 1957 and amended in 1977, 1993, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2016.
